The timetable for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) has been confirmed and released by the The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The remainder of the IPL is to be held in the UAE from September 19, 2021. Coincidentally, the 2020 edition of the IPL also began on the same date. The 14th edition of the IPL, the world’s leading franchise T20 league, is all set to resume on September 29, after a brief period of suspension, when Chennai Super Kings take on the Mumbai Indians at Dubai. In the second phase, a total number of 31 matches are set to be played over a period of 27 days. Out of this 31, 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi. The Final will be played at Dubai on 15th October, 2021. A total of 7 double-header matches have been scheduled, with the first match slated for 03.30 pm and the second match scheduled for 07.30 pm. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), which has joined hands with the BCCI in hosting the IPL in the UAE, has set up many stringent rules to prevent any kinds of bio-bubble breaches. As the COVID-19 situation is currently well under control in the country, the ECB has decided to not impose the mandatory 2-week quarantine for International players when they arrive. As most of the players have already been vaccinated and UAE has already vaccinated a majority of the population, the ECB has taken this decision. Besides this, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is also planning to let spectators for the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. Also, it has been decided to replace the balls whenever they are hit to the stands. These balls would then be sanitised and added to the balls library. Furthermore, the application of saliva to the balls would still be not allowed, and a 5-run penalty would be issued to the fielding team in times of repeated violations. Coming to the IPL itself, the data obtained from Roanuz Cricket API shows that the Delhi Capitals sit at the top of the points table who are followed closely by the Chennai Super Kings. Both the teams would be hoping to claim a few early victories and seal their positions in the Playoffs. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are among the active contenders for Playoffs, whereas the SRH and KKR are pretty much out of contention, except for a miracle to happen. We are happy to announce that at Roanuz, we will resume our data coverage of the IPL as the IPL 2021 resumes its second phase.
